A nice characteristic stool designed by Dom Hans van der Laan in the Netherlands in the 1970s. The stool is made of stained oak wood, crafted in the iconic “Bossche School” design style, which is a rare find of (Dutch) design history! The wooden panels are connected by the recognisable round copper nails. Together with Jan de Jong, who was able to translate many of Dom v.d. Laan’s idealised concepts and ideas into pioneering buildings and spaces, Dom Hans van der Laan created many furniture. Benedictine monk and architect Dom Hans van der Laan (1904-1991) is highly regarded in the world of architecture. The greatest part of Van der Laan’s life was dedicated to conceptualising form, proportion and the way in which human beings perceive architectural spaces. He also developed the theory of plastic numbers.
