Patinated bronze - Good condition - used with minor signs of age and blemishes - Height: 12 cm
Unique Bronze Evangelist Bell from Western Europe.
Heavy handbell/altar bell with rich historical and religious symbolism. The bell is made of high-quality bronze (2.5 kg), which gives it a characteristic weight and a deep, full sound.
Details:
The bell is richly decorated all around with a high relief of exuberant floral motifs and iconographic animals. Above the animal relief (probably the ox, the symbol of the Evangelist Luke), the name "LVCAS" is cast in clear capital letters.
This indicates that the bell is part of the Evangelist bell tradition.
The bell has a beautiful, natural dark green-black patina, characteristic of bronze that has been exposed to air for years.
Important: The bell is complete and in excellent condition, including the original clapper inside, which enhances its functionality and collector's value.
