For sale: An authentic masterpiece of Gouda pottery. This slender vase features the sought-after "Novio-Magum" (Latin for Nijmegen) decor and is a beautiful example of Dutch Art Deco design from the 1920s. *Jan van Ham Born 1892. Apprentice potter at Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland, later working at Lanooy, St. Lucas, and Zenith. He co-founded the 4 Mushrooms in Utrecht. In 1945, he founded 't Bolwerk, which was taken over by Gert de Rijk in 1965. Characteristics: - Manufacturer: Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH), Gouda. - Designer/Painter: Jan van Ham (signed with the monogram "JH" on the bottom). - Decor: Novio-Magum, recognizable by the geometric motifs and the powerful color palette of ochre yellow, cobalt blue, and deep brown. - Finish: High-quality matte glaze (Matte Gouda). - Period: Circa 1925 (Art Deco heyday). - Dimensions: Height 26 cm, diameter 8.5 cm. Condition: The vase is in very good condition with a beautifully preserved matte glaze. The colors are still very vibrant.
