During his Bauhaus time , Marcel Breuer experimented with the materials steel and steel tube. He did this by also applying the principles for manufacturing wooden furniture to this new material. The proximity of the Junkers machine factories in Dessau was very useful in this regard. His first designs included the set tables B 9, various wall racks and side furniture. The entire collection was included in the 'stock book', the Thonet catalog from 1930/31. The B 9 set tables were located in the canteen of the Bauhaus building designed by Walter Gropius. Nowadays, these elegant designs come into their own in home and project furnishings.
