Leuke Matsushima Naohide Kokeshi. Deze specifieke kokeshi is afkomstig uit de beroemde werkplaats Nibahiya Bussanten, gelegen aan de kustweg in Matsushima. Dit is de enige gespecialiseerde kokeshi-werkplaats in die regio en staat bekend als de officiële maker van de "Matsushima Naohide Kokeshi". De stijl en de werkplaats werden meer dan 70 jaar geleden (in 1949) opgericht door de ambachtsman Naojiro Motomura. Hij creëerde deze poppen speciaal om Matsushima een eigen, unieke vorm van traditionele volkskunst te geven. De poppen worden in deze specifieke werkplaats van begin tot eind met de hand gedraaid, geschuurd en beschilderd met lokaal hout uit de prefectuur Miyagi. De zwarte beschildering op de romp die je ziet, stelt de pijnboom-eilanden van de baai voor, het handelsmerk van de Naohide-stijl. Matsushima, gelegen in de prefectuur Miyagi, staat bekend als een van de drie mooiste landschappen van Japan. Als je goed naar de romp van de pop kijkt, zie je dat de zwarte beschildering geen abstract patroon is, maar een handgetekend, minimalistisch landschap van de baai van Matsushima, inclusief de iconische pijnbomen op de eilandjes en de contouren van de kust. This specific kokeshi comes from the famous Nibahiya Bussanten workshop, located on the coastal road in Matsushima. This is the only specialized kokeshi workshop in that region and is known as the official maker of the "Matsushima Naohide Kokeshi". The style and the workshop were established more than 70 years ago (in 1949) by the craftsman Naojiro Motomura. He created these dolls specifically to give Matsushima its own unique form of traditional folk art. In this specific workshop, the dolls are turned, sanded, and painted by hand from start to finish using local wood from Miyagi Prefecture. The black painting on the body that you see represents the pine islands of the bay, the trademark of the Naohide style. Matsushima, located in Miyagi Prefecture, is known as one of the three most beautiful landscapes in Japan. If you look closely at the doll's torso, you will see that the black paintwork is not an abstract pattern, but a hand-drawn, minimalist landscape of Matsushima Bay, including the iconic pine trees on the islets and the contours of the coast.
