This vintage floor lamp exemplifies the bold, functional design philosophy that defined Italian lighting in the 1970s.
Featuring two independently adjustable spotlight heads in glossy green enamel, the lamp delivers both focused task lighting and ambient illumination. Each cylindrical shade can be positioned to direct light exactly where needed, making this piece as practical as it is stylish. The chrome-plated central pole rises from a sturdy cross-base, creating a clean, sculptural silhouette that complements mid-century modern and industrial interiors.
Goffredo Reggiani (1929-2004) founded Reggiani Illuminazione in Monza, Italy in 1957, establishing the company as a pioneer in innovative lighting design. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Reggiani became renowned for his Space Age aesthetic, incorporating chrome, brass, and bold geometric forms that captured the era’s fascination with futuristic design. His company was among the first in Europe to develop low-voltage halogen lamps in the 1970s, setting new standards in lighting technology.
Reggiani’s designs are characterized by their minimalist lines, technical precision, and use of high-quality materials—qualities evident in this adjustable floor lamp.
Condition and Details:
The lamp retains its original green lacquer finish with minor signs of age-appropriate wear consistent with a vintage piece from the 1970s. The chrome pole and adjustable mechanisms remain fully functional, allowing smooth positioning of both spotlights. The cross-base provides excellent stability, and the original cord with inline switch is intact.
