Exceptional original 1970s Cristallux pendant lamp, handcrafted (Handarbeit) in West Germany and designed in a powerful organic brutalist modernist style.
The design language strongly resonates with the Scandinavian and Northern European brutalist movement of the late 1960s–1970s, where lighting became architectural and sculptural rather than purely functional.
The lamp features a large floating acrylic disc shade, softly diffusing the light, combined with a sculptural solid wood understructure. The organic, wave-shaped wooden element and honest material expression place this piece firmly within the same aesthetic sphere as Danish and Swedish brutalist lighting and furniture of the period.
Comparable in spirit to works by Solbackens Svarveri, Temde Leuchten, Fog & Mørup, Lyfa, and the organic wooden designs associated with Rainer Daumiller and late Poul Kjærholm-era material studies, this lamp embodies the shared Northern European fascination with form, balance and natural materials.
A refined yet bold architectural lighting object, ideal for modernist, brutalist or Scandinavian interiors.
