Piretti

A prolific designer of boundless creativity, he is responsible for many design icons. These include the "Alky" lounge chair (1969), the "Plia" chair (1969) and the "Plona" chair (1970). His "Piretti Collection" furniture line, presented at Chicago's NeoCon in 1988, is a marvel of innovation. Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna in 1940. He studied at the Instituto Statale d'Arte, then worked as a designer for Anonima Castelli, designing various ranges of furniture. It was the start of a long collaboration, spanning more than 20 years! Piretti collaborated with design greats such as Emilio Ambasz in the late 1970s. Together, they designed the ergonomic Vertebra and Dorsal chairs.
