After studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Anýž began working for the Czech watch company Pragotron. He was soon noticed for his innovative designs and began working on other product design projects. Anýž won numerous awards for his work, including the gold medal at the Salon International des Inventions in Geneva in 1965 for his Beta 21 watch. He also designed cameras for the Czech company Flexaret, which were acclaimed for their elegant, functional design. In addition to his work as a designer, Anýž also taught at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. His contribution to the world of design is considered significant for having helped put Czech design on the international map.
