Offered is this beautiful and original antique bentwood Thonet chair model No. 18 with a new matted seat.
Chair No. 18, also called bistro chair, designed by Thonet, was one of Thonet's most famous chairs next to chair No. 14. They both have a half inner arch in the backrest. This chair was produced by Austrian designer Josef Hoffmann, probably around 1900. This model is still produced but now as No. 218. This chair is still in good condition and it has a new hand matted seat. For its age it has normal signs of use and, as shown in the photos, it has had a repair which contributes to the beautiful patina this chair has acquired.
