The firm of Jakob & Josef Kohn was formed when a Thonet employee went into business for himself when the Thonet patent for "bentwood" (steamed bent beech wood) expired (ca. 1870).
Kohn became one of the biggest competitors for Thonet and excels for connoisseurs -even today- because of the high quality of its chairs.
In the 1920s, J+J Kohn was acquired by Thonet and the circle was complete again.usual traces of time. Nothing serious, a beautiful patina.
