Wonderful set of three S64 cantilever chairs by Marcel Breuer for Thonet. The chairs consist of a tubular steel frame, a white bentwood frame with armrests and seat and backrest surfaces made of Viennese wickerwork.
The cantilever chairs all date from 1989 and therefore harmonize perfectly with each other due to their similar age and signs of use. All three pieces have a Thonet manufacturer's mark with the year on the underside.
The chairs are in good condition with traces of use typical of their age. The wickerwork is intact. One seat and backrest surface was professionally replaced by a basket weaver in April 2024. Another seat was last replaced in 2020 and the third was last replaced in 2014. The cantilever chairs are ideal as dining chairs.
The S64 chair model was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928 and has been produced by Thonet since 1930. Together with the S 32 model, the chair became a design icon and one of the best-selling cantilever chairs in the world.
