Touch Nanny Still D-2095 table lamp

Raak was founded in 1954 by Carel Lockhorn and is one of the most important Dutch lighting manufacturers of the 20th century. Before launching his company in Amsterdam, Lockhorn had worked on lighting a huge Philips building in Eindhoven (where he later opened a second Raak store). In the 1960s, Raak started collaborating with the well-known artist and glass manufacturer Willem van Oyen. In the 1960s, the lines between the creative professions were blurred and many artists also worked as designers and vice versa. This is also the case at Raak, where van Oyen made lamps that were inspired by the beautiful glass plates of Chartres Cathedral in France. Raak has collaborated with international designers and architects, including E. J. (Evert Jelle) Jelles, Sergio Asti, Bertrand Balas and Nanny Still. The minimalist design is one of Raak’s signatures when it comes to sought-after vintage classics. Lockhorn sold the company in 1974, but remained a director until 1977. In 1999 the company became part of the Center for Light Architecture in Drachten. Raak became one of the most important lighting companies of the post-war period and made a significant contribution to the ‘Space Age’ style of the 1960s and 1970s. Raak lamps are highly sought after by collectors and vintage enthusiasts around the world. This marked D 2095 table lamp by Nanny Still was designed in the 1970s and made of aluminum and glass, as if it were a work of art. The lamp is in good condition and has a small dent in the metal shade, but is in beautiful condition.
