Tecno P40 lounge chair from the fifties in original condition. This chair still has all the original brass screws, logos and handles. The seat, backrest and footrest are fully adjustable. Marked: Tecno (see photos).
Design: Osvaldo Borsani Osvaldo Borsani Born: 1911 Italy Died: 1985 Italy After the war, Italian designers were experimenting with new philosophies and new ways of design: many were designing a new kind of utopia. Extreme modernity was the motto. This approach was reinforced in the design of the Lounge chair P40 and D70 that Osvaldo Borsani made in 1954 for Tecno, the company he founded himself in 1952 with his brother Fulgenzio. The D70 was a sofa that could be transformed into a bed. Based on Borsani's belief that design should be born from technical research, these two designs are highly innovative in the flexibility of their use. The P40 chair can be adjusted in 468 positions and can even be folded completely double to save space. During the early years of Tecno, this company was famous for its experiments with new materials such as rubber and foam rubber. From 1952 until his death in 1985, Borsani was the principal designer of this leading company.
