Product description
Set of four decorative panels, with their mother-of-pearl-decorated glossy brown lacquer backgrounds and gilded wood frames in the imitation of bamboo, decorated with interlocking compositions, with a fine circular border framing each panel.
One panel depicts a piece of furniture - or console - in the purest Asian style, with its irregular shapes, on which a traditional vase rests due to its shape and base, with foliage and two birds on their branches. A bowl also rests on this console. On the floor, a vase decorated with foliage rests on its base.
The second panel shows a similar console on which rests a bowl featuring a pineapple and fruit. To the right of the panel is a footstool, on which a planter with reeds rests. Two butterflies surround foliage at the top of the composition. The bottom of the panel is decorated with peonies.
The third panel shows the same console, this time with a planter featuring reeds or bamboo. Two large birds enliven the scene. On the left is a dish with a typically Asian openwork base. The bottom of the panel is decorated with a planter filled with large leaves.
The fourth panel still depicts the same console, with a planter in the center. An object and two butterflies enliven the scene. A fruit bowl and a planter complete the scene.
French work from the 1950s.
