Nice old so-called chamber pot chair (also called a night chair). The chair is made of solid, dark waxed wood and has a classic design with armrests and a spindle-shaped backrest. Underneath the removable woven reed seat is a round wooden lid that conceals the chamber pot. At the back is a small door that can be opened to place the pot inside and remove it. This was a common feature in the bedroom in the 19th century.
Simply used as an armchair (with storage space), it makes for a nice, decorative piece of furniture with a special story. And it can also be used in times of great need 😊.
The chamber pot itself is missing, and the wickerwork of the removable seat is partially damaged.
The red cushion is included. Dimensions: Height: backrest 88.5 cm
armrest 68 cm
seat height 45.5 cm
Width: backrest 44.5 cm
front of seat 54 cm
Depth: approximately 40 cm
‘pot space’: D 35 cm, W 39 cm, H 20 cm
