Knut Hesterberg is a famous German sculptor who started his career at the graphic arts and design studio in Zurich, Switzerland. Here he came into contact with the architect and artist Max Bill, who had a major influence on Hesterberg's future work. Hesterberg's sculptures have been exhibited throughout Europe. Many of his large sculptures are on permanent display in public buildings throughout Germany and some in Italy. In the late 1960s he designed sculptural table forms, particularly for Ronald Schmitt Eberbach and, to a very limited extent, for Bacher Tische in Renningen near Stuttgart, in order to bring art into the realm of people's everyday lives.
