Supporto office chair 'Task chair' designed by Frederick Scott, England for Hille in 1976. This chair immediately gained national and international fame and won the Design Award from the Design Council. For this design, Fred Scott did detailed ergonomic studies into how people actually sit. The chair had to be easy to use, easy to clean and have a long service life (on the instructions of Hille). The condition of the desk chair is still very good with normal signs of use and wear. The upholstery is still good, no stains or holes. Both the backrest and the seat height are adjustable. Material: Aluminum, metal and fabric. Dimensions: h x w x d = 91 x 58 x 55 cm and the seat height is adjustable from 47 – 57 cm. DESIGN Designer: Frederik Scott Manufacturer: Hille Design Period: 1970s Production period: 1970s Origin: United Kingdom Attribution: Branded by the Maker VINTAGE CONDITION Condition: Good; Fully functional with signs of age from wear, dents, faded finishes, minor upholstery defects or visible repairs. Signs of use: Normal signs of use i.o.a. age and use SIZES IN CM Height: 91 Width: 58 Depth: 55 Seat height: 47 – 57 MORE Color: Gray | Red | Silver Material: Aluminum | Chromed metal Weight: Light – Less than 40 kg The Supporto is not only part of the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, but is also in Apple's offices. The latter perhaps not only because of the seating comfort, but also because the back, made of cast aluminum, resembles a smartphone. For the design of the Supporto, Fred Scott carried out detailed ergonomic studies into how people actually sit when they are working. It gave him a great insight into the needs of the seated person; insight that has had a major impact on office furniture as we know it today. Made for the office furniture manufacturer Hille, his chair also had to be easy to use, easy to clean and have a long lifespan.
