Description
Designed in 1929 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, the LC1 is one of the most iconic armchairs in the world today. Produced by Cassina, the only authorised producer of Le Corbusier’s range of designs, with its simple lines and gently reclining back rest, the profile of this chair is unmistakeable. This early edition has a canvas seat and backrest. The upholstery has been professionally cleaned, frame has been polished. In good, but vintage condition. One of the aprings has been streched. Measurements: 60 x 58 x 64 cm

Cassina werd in 1927 opgericht door Umberto Cassina in het Italiaanse dorp Meda. Het centrum voor Italiaans design. In de jaren ’50 introduceerde Cassina industrieel design in Italië. Cassina wist de meest talentvolle ontwerpers aan zich te binden zoals Le Corbusier, Frank LIoyd Wright en Gerrit Rietveld. Deze groep ontwerpers wordt door Cassina I Maestri (Meesters) genoemd. Uit deze samenwerking zijn designklassiekers als de Zig Zag stoel, de Red and Blue stoel en de LC-serie ontstaan.
