A design icon this design armchair 'Canta', designed by Toshiyuki Kita in 1996, made by Cassina in Italy.
The 'canta' consists of a backrest with armrests, one of which has a variable shape and can be used as a headrest (canta) by turning it upwards.
Toshiyuki Kita's goal in the 'canta' was to create a moving lounge or easy chair, with features such as 360 degree rotation and arms that convert into headrests.
The fabric cover is removable and in a neutral color that goes with everything. After cleaning the cover, pressure has developed on a very small piece (<3mm) of fabric, causing the fabric to stretch slightly (photo 9). This does not cause any problems with the use of the armchair.
The armchair is part of the permanent collection: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Saint-Etienne, France. And can be seen at the MOMA New York. In 1997 the "canta" received the 'Good Design Award'.
