Artifort Pinguin, Artifort paved the way for modern designs in the 1950s. Theo Ruth designed the Pinguin for Artifort in 1953 and it has since become an icon. Besides that the chair looks special, it also has fantastic seating comfort. The basic idea for this chair is a chair from the Belgian Congo that the Wagemans family brought with them. This Wagemans family owned Artifort. The chair consisted of 2 parts that could be put together. This technique of sliding together is the basis for the Penguin.
